dental phobiasDental phobia can control your life - If YOU choose to let it! With dental phobia or any phobia for that matter, the fear far outweighs the threat but the sufferer often has little control over their reactions. Often, the rational thoughts of an individual will tell them that the pain they feel from the tooth could not be anywhere near as bad as any pain they may experience having dental treatment. People find it easy to say "if it really hurts then you’ll go to the dentist", but this does not hold true if you suffer from dental phobia. Obviously, the longer teeth are left untreated the worse they become and people with dental phobia become con conscious about the state of their teeth and often find themselves putting their hand strategically placed in front of my mouth to hide them when speaking to people. They also over a period of time find themselves smiling less and less, so not only to people with dental phobia feel miserable, they also look it! Self-confidence and self-esteem rapidly disappear and panic attacks become more frequent. Someone with dental phobia will eventually feel isolated and alone. Hypnosis can help, but sometimes facing up to the dental phobia can be the first step to conquering it. Be honest with everyone around you, especially yourself and with help it can be overcome. | Causes of phobias
